INTRODUCTION ISHINCA
The snowy Ishinca 5530 m.
Chinchey Massif belongs to,
at the end of the Quebrada Ishinca,
between two spectacular
and
gigantic mountains
the Ranrapalca and Palcaraju. Perhaps
this mountain is somewhat shy among such high company, but no slouch in beauty and difficulty.
The Ishinca is a "classic mountain acclimatization"
and behold a great panoramic view, since its normal route achieves a good height in a short time, through a simple route, also contains difficult ice routes for different faces.
The first ascent was on May 12, 1954, by P. Baltazar, C. Fernández, C. Morales, M. Romero and F. Suazo. The approach was for the Ishinca Valley and Yanaraju Valley. Ascension by SW Glacier
and SW ridge.
In 1964, J. Fonrouge, W. Lindauer, H. Salger, H. Schmidbauer, U. Staudacher. They climbed the West Face.
The June 13, 1965, W. Bassett, J. Hough, C. Satterfield, S. Turner. Ishinca ascend the stream, the NE ridge.
On July 29, 1965, K. Baker, G. Holdsworth, L. Irwin, J. Ricker, ascend the valley Cojup
the hill of the West Palcaraju with Ishinca and then the NE ridge.
